Play with extinct megafauna

Play with 3D photogrammetry of exinct animals from the Australian Museum collection.

Megafauna are large animals that roamed the Earth during the Pleistocene, which was 2.5 million to 11,700 years ago. In Australia, megafauna included the huge wombat-shaped Diprotodon.

The extinction of megafauna around the world was most likely due to environmental and ecological factors. It was almost completed by the end of the last ice age. It is believed that megafauna initially came into existence in response to glacial conditions and became extinct due to the onset of warmer climates.
